EX-AFC Hornchurch pair Reiss Noel and Joe Woolley, who were convicted of helping to fix football matches in Australia, have been given worldwide lifteime bans by FIFA.
The game’s governing body decided to extend the ban to the whole world after the Australian football association had initially suspended them just from playing down under.
Noel, a defender, and goalkeeper Woolley both played for Ryman Premier AFC Hornchurch before moving to Australia to represent the Southern Stars in the semi-professional Victorian Premier League.
The pair, both aged 24, pleaded guilty to conduct that corrupts a betting outcome in December and their worldwide bans now cover “any football-related activity.”
A FIFA statement said: “Fifa continues to work closely with its member associations and the confederations to tackle match manipulation.”
