SIMON COLBRAN will remain at Peacehaven & Telscombe despite the club’s playing budget being slashed in half.
The former Chipstead, Redhill, Worthing and Horsham boss replaced Darren Freeman in October and Peacehaven are currently fourth bottom of the Ryman South, just a point above the relegation places.
Senior players Jamie Brotherton, Fraser Logan, Jon Marzetti and Mark Zydonic have left the club following the news but Colbran won’t be going anywhere.
Acting chairman Sue Norwood said: “The committee of Peacehaven & Telscombe Football Club has made the difficult decision to cut the playing budget by half for the rest of the season.
“As a committee we have been, and will continue to work extremely hard to ensure that we maintain our status within the Ryman League.
“This decision was not an easy one to make but in the interest of the football club and grass roots football we have made this very hard decision to reduce the overall wage bill.
“Manager Simon Colbran who only joined us three months ago, and has been put in a very difficult situation, has advised us, although it will not be easy on this budget, he will work extremely hard with his coaching team, to develop a squad that we as a club will be proud of.
“We truly want to thank Simon for not running away from us immediately in this current climate and we hope that we can return to the level of finance we previously agreed with him as soon as we are in a steady financial position.”
