FORMER Hayes & Yeading United boss Garry Haylock says he will get in touch with Hampton & Richmond Borough chairman Steve McPherson about the vacant managerial post at the Beveree.
Mark Harper, pictured below, quit as Beavers boss following their 3-0 defeat to Carshalton Athletic on Bank Holiday Monday – a result that leaves them 14th in the Ryman Premier League.
After being relegated from the Conference South last season the club had hoped to bounce straight back to Step 2 with promotion and started the 2012/13 campaign very brightly.
However, they have steadily slipped down the league and are now resigned to a second year playing Step 3 football.
The South West London club have confirmed that Paul Barry and Darren Powell have been placed in charge for the remainder of the season but they are already taking applications for the role of permanent manager.
And Haylock, who was in charge of Hayes & Yeading when they beat Hampton in the Conference South play-offs 2008/09, says he is interested in the position.
Speaking to the Hounslow Chronicle, he said: “I will give the Hampton chairman a call at some stage. I have met him and before and he seems a decent guy.
“This time last year I would have been battering down his door. It looks like a good club, and one of only a handful of jobs I would be interested in.”
