East Thurrock United manager John Coventry has called for his team to be “more like themselves” ahead of tonight’s FA Cup third qualifying round replay against Harlow Town.
In Saturday’s tight affair, Coventry bemoaned the performance of his side as they drew 2-2 with their Bostik League Premier opponents, but he believes they’re more than good enough to win tonight.
A victory would set up a mouthwatering tie against National League side Ebbsfleet United, who have lost just once all season. and the East Thurrock boss believes that tie will act as a huge incentive as the club aims for the first round.
Speaking to the Thurrock Gazette, Coventry said: “We didn’t turn up on Saturday. By turning up tonight we will be better than we were on Saturday.
“The game was there for us and we couldn’t take the chance.
“The longer it went on the longer we gave them a chance to get something and they have players that are capable of causing us problems.
“We are struggling in terms of numbers and I am doing what I can with what I have. In terms of the match, we are good enough to win and progress, of course.
