The record attendance at Nuneaton Borough’s Liberty Way stadium is set to be smashed this weekend, however this will be due to an anticipated influx of celebratory Stockport County fans!
The current record attendance for the ground is 3,480 but with title chasing County expected to take over 3,000 supporters on Saturday that statistic is set to be bettered.
Such a big crowd will bring in some much needed funds to financially strapped Nuneaton, which could prove vital as they plot a return to Step 2 next season.
After second placed Chorley fell to defeat at Spennymoor and Stockport breezed to victory over Curzon Ashton on Easter Monday, Jim Gannon’s side find themselves a point clear of the Magpies with just one game left to play.
Therefore three points at Liberty Way would guarantee a return to the National League, while a point could also be enough if Chorley fail to beat play-off chasing Bradford PA.
