The FA have announced that Hythe Town striker Nigel Neita has been handed an eye watering 12 match ban for his involvement in a brawl during the Cannons’ 2-1 defeat at Faversham Town last season.
The forward became involved in the altercation, which broke out after the final whistle and appeared to involve around 40 people and will now have to serve his ban during the first few months of the new campaign.
He has also been handed a fine of £150 for the charge of improper conduct.
Unfortunately for the Kent side the bad news does not stop there, with a punishment also handed out to Neita’s teammate Jack Sammoutis. while Faversham’s Ben Chapman has also been reprimanded for his role in the brawl back in February.
Both were slapped with a £100 fine, while Sammoutis will have to sit out six matches and Chapman four.
Hythe narrowly missed out on the Step 4 play-offs last season, finishing in 7th position in the Bostik South East, following a 3-1 defeat to Cray Wanderers on the campaign’s final day.
