Alex Purver has joined Swedish Premier Division side Östersunds FK following a successful trial.
The 24-year-old played in a friendly against Sundsvall last month and has since impressed manager Ian Burchall enough to earn a permanent deal.
Purver joined Guiseley ahead of the 2017/18 season having come through the Leeds United Academy.
He captained Leeds’ U21 side before joining the Lions on loan in September 2016 to gain first-team experience before eventually signing permanently.
On his move to the Swedish club, Purver said: “Östersund are known in England for their game in the Europa League when they beat Arsenal away. I knew of course about Graham Potter, and now also our English coach Ian Burchnall.
“It will be fun to play and help the team.”
Burchall added: “He has impressed us during the training period and has a lovely attitude and mentality. In addition, he is a smart player we want to use in the midfield.”
On his trial performance, Burchall said: “I think Alex Purver in the midfield did well. He also played many minutes, he hasn’t played for a while. He got through 90 minutes in a good way,”
Maidstone forward Blair Turgott is also rumoured to be signing for Ostersunds.
