A TRIP to Rotherham United in the third round isn’t the only thing to inspire an FA Cup upset from Macclesfield Town on Tuesday night – a victory will also bag them a King size bed!
The Silkmen were unlucky not to beat League One side Oxford United in the first tie last Friday live on the BBC with Jack Mackreth seeing a late effort smack the post.
They travel down to Oxford tonight (Tuesday) for their second round replay with a trip to Championship club Rotherham next up for the victors.
Macc players may have an extra motivation, however, after being promised a brand new King size bed from main sponsor Arighi Bianchi if they win!
Nick Bianchi from Arighi Bianchi, who thought up the bonus, said: “The players are doing the town incredibly proud and as main sponsor we want to reward them for that!
“At the beginning of the season I sat down with John (Askey, manager) and Steve (Watson, assistant) to explain that as main sponsors of this fantastic football club we wanted to give something back to the players.
“So after our excellent performance against Oxford we got together at Arighi Bianchi and decided that if we get through the replay we will give each member of the first-team a King size bed with our compliments.
“I really hope we do it and I hope this can be a little carrot for the team when they are travelling down to the game. Fingers crossed on Wednesday morning the team are beating the doors of Arighi Bianchi down to get their new bed!”
