FOUR Non-League players have made the shortlist for the latest FA Cup Player of the Round award.
In what proved to be a great First Round weekend for teams outside of the Football League it was no surprise that the four nominees all played key roles in causing upsets.
The first, Ryan Bowman, scored twice for Hereford United to help them beat Shrewsbury Town 3-1.
While the Bulls may be struggling off the pitch, their FA Cup run is certainly helping boost their bank balance and they will be eying another upset when they travel to Cheltenham in the next round.
Harrogate Town goalscorer Chib Chilaka is the second name on the shortlist after his first-half strike knocked out Torquay United.
It is the first time Town have made it through to Round Two of the competition and they have a great chance of going even further as they were handed a home draw against Ryman Premier club Hastings United.
Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Macclesfield Town sprung a shock by beating Swindon Town 2-0 away from home.
Tony Diagne opened the scoring with a thundering free-kick from distance and that inspirational effort has put him in with a chance of landing the Player of the Round accolade.
The final nominee is Donovan Simmonds of Chelmsford City.
Simmonds scored once in each half to put the Clarets 2-0 up against League One side Colchester United before the U’s hit back through Michael Rose.
But Jamie Slabber added a third for the Clarets to set up a Second Round tie away at Crawley Town.
