Ambitious Wrexham have made a massive statement of intent to their promotion rivals after securing an impressive double striker deal.
The Dragons raised eyebrows on Saturday after announcing the arrival of former Stockport County frontman Jason Oswell from League Two Morecambe.
Now they’ve boosted their squad further by adding Cole Stockton on loan from Tranmere Rovers until the end of the season.
“Cole is a different type of striker to Jason Oswell who signed on Saturday so that gives us more options in that department now,” explained manager Granam Barrow
“Cole did very well in this division for Tranmere in his last spell there and he knows exactly what is required to challenge at the top end of the table. I’m delighted he’s here. Hopefully he’ll be available to play on Tuesday.”
A Merseyside native, Stockton, 24, came through the youth system at Tranmere, spending time on loan at Southport in the National League and Vauxhall Motors in the National League North before breaking in to the first team.
Oswell, meanwhile, struck 28 goals for Stockport before earning a move to the EFL with League Two Morecambe. In 23 games this season (ten starts), he has scored twice.
“He’s a natural goalscorer who I have monitored for a while,” Barrow said after Saturday’s shock 1-0 home defeat to Dover.
“He will come in now and help out up front, an area that I have been wanting to strengthen during this January window.”
