Kidderminster Harriers have become the latest National League North club to part company with their their manager – and chairman Colin Gordon has taken over the reins.
Struggling York City axed boss Sam Collins on Saturday night after a 1-0 defeat at Curzon Ashton and now their league rivals Kiddy have made a change.
Harriers went down 3-0 at lowly Darlington on the weekend which saw them slip to ninth in the division.
MacFarlane took over in the summer after John Eustace left the club to become assistant manager to Steve McClaren at Queens Park Rangers.
A club statement read: “Following mutually amicable discussions, it has been agreed that Neil MacFarlane and the Club will part company with immediate effect.
“The Club would like to wish Neil every good fortune for the future.
“Senior players Jimmy O’Connor and Russ Penn will join Colin Gordon in overseeing first team affairs for the remainder of the season.”
Chairman Gordon served as caretaker manager from September in the 2015-16 season before buying a majority stake in the club in November 2015.
