Just a day after Truro City were left in shock by the sudden departure of manager Paul Wilkinson, the White Tigers have reacted quickly by drafting in Paul Wotton as the club’s new boss.
The experienced coach had most recently held the role of Assistant Manager at League One side Plymouth Argyle and has penned a two year deal with Truro.
Wotton has a long association with Argyle having started his career with the Devon club, going on to enjoy spells with the likes of Southampton and Yeovil Town, before ending his playing days where they began.
In total, the defensive midfielder made almost 450 first team appearances for the Pilgrims during a 17 year spell on the books as a player for Plymouth.
Since 2015 the Plymouth legend has been worked as a coach at Home Park, before deciding to make his very first foray into first team management today.
The new Truro boss said, “The infrastructure is getting bigger and better,”
“The Club is run in a vastly more professional way. I’m a professional person so the more good people you’ve got around you the better.
“I’m here to concentrate on the football,” Paul added. “This is my first Manager’s job so it’s exciting for me and a real positive step forward on my career path. It’s a Club with a great tradition in non-league circles and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
