TOMMY BROOKBANKS has been named the new manager of Coalville Town after leaving troubled neighbours Loughborough Dynamo.
Brookbanks replaces Jimmy Gray, who only took charge last month, at the Ravens following their 4-1 defeat to Mickleover Sports in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
Former Carlton Town, Stamford and Quorn boss Brookbanks had led Dynamo to third in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South but the playing squad and management team had not been paid since the start of the season.
Businessman Vaughan Williams took the club over in the summer but failed to deliver on a number of promises, including paying outstanding wages.
With most of his squad refusing to play, Brookbanks decided it was time to move on saying “I can’t keep working for nothing”. He is joined at the Ravens by assistant Mark Harvey, first team coach Lee Morris and goalkeeper coach Jason McGuire.
Coalville chairman Glyn Rennocks said: ” We are delighted to be able to welcome someone of Tommy’s experience and track record to the club.
“We are looking forward to working together to take the club forward and build on the successes of recent seasons. Everyone at the club wishes the new management a warm welcome to Owen Street.
“The club would like to place on record it’s thanks to Jimmy and Andy (Turner, assistant) who have worked extremely hard during their period at the club but it’s just not worked out for them.”
