KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS caretaker boss Colin Gordon reckons departing striker Jamie Spencer has to become “a little more nasty”.
Spencer signed for Kidderminster in December 2014 after impressing at Rushall, Alvechurch and Redditch United but failed to make an impact at Aggborough.
He has made just a handful of first team appearances and only featured twice off the bench this season which led to a loan move back to Rushall.
He initially joined in October but broke his foot late last year. He returned to the Pics on loan again in January and Harriers have now let Spencer leave the club to sign for Rushall permanently.
Gordon says the 22-year-old has the talent but must work on the physical side of his game in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier.
Caretaker manager, and chief executive, Gordon told the club’s website: “Jamie has everything you need to be a top player, but he is too nice – he needs to be a little more nasty and learn how to do that, and he’s admitted that himself.
“He’ll be going to Rushall where he is happy and comfortable, and if he bites us on the backside then he does – we’ll just have to see how that goes.”
Meanwhile, young winger Dan Sweeney has returned to Halesowen Town on loan until the end of the season and Gordon is pleased with his development.
“Dan is looking very interesting for the future,” he said. “His problems aren’t physical, they’re mental – it’s about how he copes with pressure and structure.
“If he copes with those things then he has a great chance; if he doesn’t, he hasn’t. It won’t be Dan Sweeney’s ability that stops him being a top footballer; it will be (how he copes).
“The environment he’s in at Halesowen at the moment is going to help him with that – it will help him grow up.”
