Garry Vaughan quits as manager of relegated Ramsbottom United

GARRY VAUGHAN has quit as manager of after the club suffered its first ever relegation.

Former boss Vaughan joined the Rams in October, replacing club legend Jon Robinson after a tough start to the NPL Premier season.

However, Vaughan was unable to turn the club’s season around and they were relegated from Step 3 with six games left to play.

Despite picking up four points from his two games in charge, the Rams are winless in 22 outings and Vaughan won just five of the 34 league matches he presided over, quitting on Tuesday morning.

His assistant Wayne Goodison took control for Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with Colwyn Bay and will be in the dugout for the final game of the season at home to Ilkeston on Saturday.
