Evo-Stik Premier mid-week round-up: Stourbridge thump sorry Warrington

Goals galore in the Evo-Stik Premier last night, as Stourbridge secured the result of the night at Warrington.

There were goals aplenty in the Evo-Stik Premier last night, but there was one team in particular who earned the result of the night.
Going into last night’s fixture with  it appeared that Warrington were one of the teams to beat this season, with Paul Carden’s side three points behind the leaders Shaw Lane with a game in hand. However, they have now slipped to sixth in the table after they were demolished 5-1 by the Glassboys, who are up to second.
Two goals in four first-half minutes from Stuart Pierpoint and Jordan Archer had Stourbridge in control, but the hosts pulled one back just five minutes into the second half through Sean Williams. Another from Archer and strikes from Leon Broadhurst and Paul McCone eventually put the Yellows to the sword, though.
There was a vital victory for Stalybridge Celtic who moved off the bottom of the table with a 1-0 win over Halesowen Town, who took their place at the foot of the Evo-Stik Premier. Kick off was delayed by the visitor’s late arrival to Bower Fold, and Steve Burr’s men were clearly in a rush as Liam Dickinson’s ninth minute strike secured the spoils for Stalybridge.
Lancaster City put a beating on  at Giant Axe last night, with the win moving them to within a point of their opponent’s having played two fewer games. A Tom Kilifin hat-trick and a Paul Dugdale goal proved more than enough to dispose of the Albs.
Leaders Shaw Lane moved three points clear at the top of the table as they won a hard-fought encounter at Matlock Town, as Spencer Harris’s strike proved the difference.  are in third after a 1-1 draw with struggling , as Dean Freeman and Andre Landell scored for their respective teams.
Workington moved up to 13th as they claimed their first away win of the season at , Scott Allison’s goal securing the points for Dave Hewson’s men. Meanwhile Altrincham are up to fifth after their 3-0 win at Hednesford Town, Josh Hancock and Jordan Hulme (twice) on target.
The night’s goal-fest could be found at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium, where Grantham Town thumped  6-1. Four of the host’s goals were scored by Lee Shaw, with Luke Shaw and Andrew Wright also on target – Gaz Singh gabbing a consolation for the beleaguered visitors.
Farsley Celtic are up in fourth after a 2-1 win at last night. Isaac Baldwin and a James Walshaw penalty cancelled out George Lomax’s goal for the hosts.  won 2-0 at Buxton, and  beat  Sports 2-1 at Kirkby Road.
Stafford Rangers claimed an important 3-0 victory over Nantwich Town, goals from Mat Bailey, Osebi Abadaki and Richard Gregory doing the business for Neil Kitching’s men.
