Evo-Stik North leaders South Shields ensured their home record remains spotless last night with a routine 2-0 win over bottom side Goole at Mariners Park.
By contrast the visitors are still without an away point this season, and a Gavin Cogdon strike coupled with a late Julio Arca penalty ensured there would be no respite for them.
Bamber Bridge stayed within a point of the Mariners with a 1-0 win against Prescot Cables last night. Phil Doughty’s 23rd minute effort was all Brig needed for the victory at Irongate.
Ramsbottom United are up to fifth after a 2-1 triumph against Brighouse Town, Sam Heathcote’s brace making Jack Normanton’s goal for the visitors obsolete.
Hyde United were the night’s big winners, putting four past Atherton Collieries without reply. Karl Jones, Ryan Ellison, Phattharaphol Khamsuk and David Brown were all on target for Darren Kelly’s side. Elsewhere, Ossett Albion got an important 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Colne, Joe Wilkinson and Andy Welsh cancelling out Stephen Cassidy’s strike.
Second bottom Skelmersdale United suffered another defeat, this time 2-0 at home to Kendal Town. Robert Bowman and Richard Seear made sure the Blueboys remain in their current predicament.
Finally, Trafford secured a 3-1 win in their mid-table clash with Clitheroe – James Dean scoring twice and Aaron Burns converting a penalty for Tom Baker’s side, with Kurt Willoughby on target for the Blues.
