World’s first club Sheffield FC name Shaw as permanent manager

By Matt Bishop
South side side FC have confirmed that interim manager Mark Shaw has been appointed as the club’s permanent boss.
Shaw previously spent 12 months in charge of the world’s first club between 2011-12, and has been at the helm for the club’s past two games – overseeing last Saturday’s draw at and Tuesday’s 3-2 win over .
The manager’s unbeaten run has seen Sheffield move three points clear of the relegation zone, and he is delighted to be given the job permanently.
Shaw told the club’s website: “It’s a real pleasure to be given the opportunity to manager the worlds first football club. I am extremely proud to be given the chance.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time here before and always had a soft spot for the club, its history and the people who run it.
“I feel I have a lot of unfinished business and want to bring the good exciting times back. People know what I’m like and how I like to do things.
“I get it, I get what the clubs about and I want to try and get that romance back, the fun and the buzz about the place with the first team. Get the people back through the gate because we are playing fast attacking football.”
“It’s great to be back, I feel I’m a better manager now and want to use my experience to help bring success back to the club. I want to thank Chris and Richard for giving me the chance.”
