MICHAEL STRINGFELLOW and Neil Wainwright have quit as joint-managers of Lancaster City.
The pair resolved to leave the Giant Axe following the board’s decision to cut the current playing budget to save funds for a promotion push next season.
A statement confirming their departure said: “Michael and Neil were unable to accept the change in circumstances and resigned from their roles as joint player-managers.
“We would like to thank them for their efforts and commitment through what has been a very challenging season for Lancaster City, and everyone at the club would like to wish them all the best and good luck for the future.”
Their exit comes hot on the heels of the news that the Dolly Blues have had three points deducted for fielding an ineligible player.
The Northern Premier League ruling, which has not been challenged by the club, relates to their win over Ossett Albion on February 2.
Lancaster have placed Mick Hoyle and Derek Bull in charge of first team affairs for the remainder of the Northern Premier League Division One North campaign.
