AFC FYLDE have had a four-figure bid for Barbados international striker Neil Harvey rejected by Hednesford Town.
Harvey, 29, was one of the Pitmen’s stand out players last season, netting over 20 times as they secured promotion from the Northern Premier League Premier Division via the play-offs.
Fylde boss Dave Challinor is eager to add his to his squad ahead of the 2013/14 season and spoke to the frontman about a potential switch.
The Coasters then made a bid for his services but have been told they will need to up their offer to secure his signature.
Speaking about the rejected offer, Challinor told the AFC Fylde website: “Obviously the lad wanted to join us and it is disappointing that a deal couldn’t be struck.
“He met with myself and the chairman this week and liked where we are heading and hinted he would like to be a part of it.
“However, he is Hednesford’s player and all I can do now is see whether the two chairmen can work something out and if not we move onto other options.”
Coasters chairman David Haythornthwaite added: “We’ve made what we believe to be a sizeable four figure offer for Neil but Hednesford want a ridiculous amount and quoted us five figures.
“It’s a problem we have and just have to deal with as clubs think we are the moneybags team in our league and that we will pay whatever they ask.
“This is not the case, as while we are ambitious and want the best players, it is not at any cost. We very much hope Hednesford will reconsider and give Neil the opportunity he deserves.”
