LANCASTER CITY have pulled off a coup by bringing striker Jordan Connerton back to the Giant Axe.

Connerton, 22, netted 35 goals in 2009/10 season to help the Dolly Blues clinch the Northern Premier League Division One North title.

He was subsequently bought by Crewe Alexandra but never really had a look in with the League One side.

Connerton has spent time on loan at Workington, Nantwich and Kendal over the past two seasons and was released by Crewe earlier this summer.

The Lancaster-born frontman has now returned to his hometown club and caretaker manager Mick Hoyle is delighted to have secured his services.

Hoyle told the club’s website: “I’m delighted to have signed him.

“We want to get him back to where he was last time he was with us and he needs to start scoring a few goals to put himself back in the shop window.

“He needs to get himself fit as well and has been working very hard.

“It’s an exciting signing and if we can get him back to where he was it will be great for the club.”
