WELLING UNITED‘S Sahr Kabba has become the first player to be charged with ‘feigning injury’ following the Wings’ game against Tranmere on Saturday.
The match, live on BT Sport, saw Welling come from behind to draw 1-1 after Rovers defender Ritchie Sutton was dismissed for an off the ball incident with Kabba. Tranmere were 1-0 up at the time of the sending off.
Sutton has since had his red card rescinded and under new FA policy brought in this season, Kabba will now face charges instead.
The striker has been charged with ‘allegedly exaggerating or feigning an injury which directly led to an opponent being dismissed’.
Under the new rules set by the FA, ‘If the dismissed player is successful in overturning his sending-off and it is clear that the opposing player had not, for example, been struck as implied/claimed or at all, then a disciplinary charge may follow’.
Kabba, a former Weston-super-Mare and Lincoln City player, has until 6pm on September 11 to respond and could face a three-match ban.
