Loui Fazakerley sacked as manager of Welling United

have sacked manager Loui Fazakerley after a run of ten games without a win.

The Wings are third bottom of the table and four points adrift of safety after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to .

The 31-year-old led Welling into the second round of the where they were beaten by Carlisle United but the recent poor form in the league has sprung the club into action.

Fazakerley, who made 219 appearances for the Wings as a player, was made manager last March, replacing Jody Brown.

Welling operations manager Barry Hobbins said: “We’re disappointed that we’ve had to make a change but we felt we had to give ourselves the best chance possible of staying up.

“We enjoyed a good run in the FA Cup this season but the league is our priority and we need to get back to winning ways very quickly.

“Loui has been a fantastic servant to the club, both as a player over a number of seasons and as a manager in the past year or so. We wish him all the best in the future.”
