Bromley part company with manager Mark Goldberg

outfit have parted company with manager Mark Goldberg, less than a year after the club lifted the Conference South title.

The Ravens have struggled of late – losing three games in a row – after an impressive start in ‘s top flght, but they are still 14th in the table, ten points clear of the relegation places.

Former Crystal Palace owner Goldberg returned to Bromley for this third spell in charge in June 2011, after he had taken the club into the Conference South four years earlier.

He enjoyed more success with the club, guiding them to the Step 2 title last season and he has also won two Kent Senior Cups, a London Senior Cup, and made the first round of the five times.

Despite sitting comfortably mid-table, chairman Jerry Dolke says the club’s new investors had “higher expectations” and the club confirmed they had “agreed to part company” with the boss.

Goldberg said: “I am disappointed that the board feel a change is required as I believe we are performing to a realistic expectation considering all circumstances my belief and ambition has never waivered, however is all about opinions and a decision has been made. As a patron of I will continue to support the club in every way I can.

“I am pleased that Neil Smith has the opportunity to take on the role and he has my full support and I thank everyone involved with me during my time at the club for the great team effort that has seen us grow from a Ryman League to a National League club.”

Chairman Dolke added: “This is not a decision that has been taken lightly. The club has new investors who have higher expectations than current performances on the pitch are showing.

“We would like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank Mark for his professionalism and exemplary service to the club and we hope to see Mark around the club at games and potentially involved with the board in some capacity in the future.

“We will give Neil all the support we can moving forward. Now is not the time to speculate about a full-time appointment.”
