KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS chairman Rod Brown wants interim boss Colin Gordon to remain part of the club’s management team going forward.

chairman Rod Brown wants interim boss Colin Gordon to remain part of the club’s management team going forward.

Gordon, 53, is Harriers’ majority shareholder and chief executive but took charge of first team affairs for a second time this season after Dave Hockaday left in January.

Despite a run of three wins in a row last month, Kiddy have lost their last four, sit bottom of the table and are 12 points adrift of safety.

Harriers have struggled all season in the aftermath of financial problems, with the club reducing their playing budget from around £800,000 two seasons ago to £260,000 at the start of this campaign.

And while relegation looks an almost certainty, chairman Brown is hoping Gordon will decide to remain on the management side despite the former agent claiming previously that he didn’t want to become head coach permanently.

“I think what he’s done with the players he’s had has been amazing,” Brown told BBC and Worcester. “We haven’t always had results, but the ‘s been the best I’ve seen.

“Colin has a lot of interests in the football club and has a lot of skills. He is not sure whether his skill-sets are right to be head coach, but I think he should be part of it.

“I can see his vision and the brand of football he wants to play and if I don’t get him to do it, then second best thing would be that he’s part of a team managing the club.”

Harriers may have had a miserable season – which has included getting knocked out the and by local rivals – but Brown says there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“We will break even this year – the first time in 15 years and that’s very gratifying,” he added. “Full-time football can be sustainable and I’ve got no doubt the future is bright.”

Think Rod Brown watches a different game to the fans. How an earth can the football be good when you play one up front and the midfield are so far back they might as well be in defence. The football is dire in that the fans want to see goalmouth action and goals.Yes I know that is a shock to the system. The negativity displayed with the tactics explains why we keep on losing by the odd goal.We allow the other team to play and consequently they score. If we had developed a more attacking approach then we would certainly have acquired more points and possibly avoided relegation.I acknowledge Colin Gordan and the chairman have done a great job with the finances but please please hire a decent manager that displays a far more attacking approach.
