Boreham Wood sign Braintree Town skipper Kenny Davis

have secured one of the signings of the summer so far after enticing skipper Kenny Davis to Meadow Park.

The 28-year-old midfielder has been a key player for Braintree since joining from in the summer of 2010, captaining the Iron for the past five seasons.

He made more than 200 appearances for the Essex club and leaves after the Iron just missed out on a spot in the promotion final, losing to Grimsby Town in the play-off semi-finals.

Davis is the second big departure from Braintree following boss Danny Cowley’s decision to take over at league rivals Lincoln City

The midfielder’s new club secured their National League status on the final day of the season, winning 3-0 at to finish two points clear of the drop.

The Wood will be hoping for a more comfortable campaign next term and Davis is the second new addition after the signing of winger Bruno Andrade.

Boss Luke Garrard said “Kenny really is a fantastic signing for me and the club. The chairman has obviously backed me on this and I’m really excited for our supporters and the town, as we’re trying to achieve something nobody thought possible just a few short years ago.

“At 28, Kenny’s best years are still very much ahead of him and I’m pleased that after he saw our set up, our pitch, our training facilities and listened to our plans for next season, that Kenny was keen to come onboard and get involved with us.”
