JAMIE DAY was confirmed as Braintree Town‘s new manager on Saturday, replacing Danny Cowley who had left for league rivals Lincoln City.
Cowley led the Iron to third in the National League in his only season in charge before they narrowly lost out to Grimsby Town in the play-off semi-finals.
A move into full-time football with Lincoln City was too good to turn down and the Iron have now turned to Jamie Day to continue his good work at Cressing Road.
Day, 36, is stepping into his first number one role since he left Ebbsfleet United last April after just five months at Stonebridge Road.
He had previously spent five years at Welling United, leading them to the Conference South title in 2012-13 and keeping them in Non-League‘s top flight.
The ex-Arsenal and Bournemouth midfielder most recently spent a spell as assistant manager at Forest Green Rovers, leaving a week before the play-offs when boss Ady Pennock was sacked.
Braintree chairman Lee Harding told The NLP: “We’re excited that we have been able to agree a deal with Jamie. He’s a good manager and we’re delighted to have him here and we’re already looking forward to seeing what can be achieved.
“Jamie will put together an exciting team I’m sure and will carry on the good work of the Cowley brothers after they moved on to Lincoln City.”
