Macclesfield Town welcome back former favourite Connor Jennings on loan

TOWN have brought back striker Connor Jennings on loan from Tranmere for a month while also drafting in Grimsby midfielder Luke Summerfield.

Jennings, 25, was a fans’ favourite at the Moss Rose during his previous loan spell with the club in the 2013-14 season.

The forward plundered 17 goals in 17 starts for the Silkmen before returning to parent club .

Jennings has since turned out for and captained , often playing in midfield for the Dragons, before he signed for Tranmere in the summer.

He has made just 12 appearances for Rovers this term, scoring once, and has been allowed to move to rivals Macclesfield to get some minutes under his belt.

Tranmere boss Micky Mellon said: “We feel that it is important for Connor to go out and play some regular first team after returning to full fitness.

“He is going to a good club and will get a run of games with Macclesfield which is what he needs at this present moment.”

Play-off chasing Macc, who currently sit ninth in the National League table with games in hand, have also moved to strengthen their midfield for the run in.

Summerfield, 29, arrives from League Two side Grimsby until the end of the season with a view to making the move permanent if the Silkmen can gain promotion.

The ex-Plymouth, , , Cheltenham, Shrewsbury and York midfielder brings over a decade of Football League experience to the Moss Rose and has started 22 games for Grimsby this season.
