Community Club Cut Ties With Nuneaton Town

NUNEATON TOWN acting chairman Neil Hodgson has confirmed that the Community Club have cut all ties with the club.

In a statement posted on the club’s website, Hodgson said: “We are naturally disappointed that the Community Club has taken the unilateral decision to sever links with the Club.

“This is particularly surprising given the significant lengths we have gone to as a board in order in an attempt to redefine the working relationship in a way that we considered to be beneficial to the club and its ambitions and objectives for its community.

“The board had held several positive and constructive meetings with Paul Daly and Mark Thompson and agreed to provide a first team kit, season ticket, free use of the club for meetings and ball boy opportunities for the youngsters on the same basis as previous seasons.

“We are not prepared to be drawn into the internal wrangling and politics of the Community Club and so we shall not comment further upon the press release issued by the Chairman, Ian Brown, who chose not to be involved in previous discussions, for and on behalf of the Community Club.

“Suffice to say, Nuneaton Town Football Club remains committed to its community in the widest possible sense (adults and children alike).

“The club has plans to work with the whole of the local community (including all local teams) which were recently shared with the Community Club and also has plans in place for youth football for next season. However, having discovered the Community Club’s intentions from the press only a few hours ago you will understand we now need time to finalise these developments.

“That said, we move on, and in doing so wish the Community Club well for the future.”
