LINCOLN CITY face a big battle to keep hold of their in-form left-back Sean Newton.
The NLP understands five Football League clubs are considering bids for the 25-year-old, one of the Imps best performers in a frustrating season.
The former Stockport County player is in demand with 2012 Conference promotion final winners York City leading the race. League One strugglers Notts County are also said to be weighting up an offer.
Newton, who has also had spells in Non-League with AFC Telford, Barrow and Droylsden, is also attracting interest from Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury. Scunthorpe have yet to decide if they will move for the full-back, but will continue to monitor the situation.
A source said: “There’s five Football League clubs keen, but it’s a case of which one of them can tempt Lincoln City into parting with one of the best players.”
