JASON WALKER has returned to the Skrill Premier with Forest Green Rovers.
Walker, 29, helped York to a promotion and FA Trophy double in 2011-12 after spells with Barrow and then Luton Town.
The striker moved to Bootham Crescent for £60,000 and scored nine goals in League Two last season for the Minstermen following their Conference Premier play-off final win.
Walker moved to Sweden in the summer to play for Östersunds FK in the second tier before returning to the UK in December.
He had been on trial with Gateshead, where his former York boss Gary Mills is now in charge, but turned down the chance to be reunited with him.
He has instead decided to join Forest Green until the end of the season and boss Ady Pennock said: “Jason brings something different to the table, he’s got good touch and awareness, he knows where the goal is and just needs to get match fit.
“Jason was offered more money to go elsewhere and the ball is in his court to earn a new contract for next season. That’s the kind of attitude we want and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
