NEW Peacehaven & Telscombe boss Mark Shutt will be looking close to home as he tries to get Peacehaven & Telscombe bouncing back up to Step 4.
The Magpies suffered a tough campaign and ultimately finished bottom of the Ryman South to return to the Southern Combination League.
Boss Simon Colbran left at the end of the season, after sticking around following budget cuts earlier in the campaign, and he has been replaced by Shutt, who works for the University of Brighton as their head coach of football.
Shutt, 36, joins the Magpies from Mid Sussex Premier side Peacehaven United, a club he had been associated with since he was 15.
And he will be utilising his contacts in the area to bring a more local feel to Peacehaven as they aim for a more positive campaign next term.
Shutt said: “I am honoured and privileged to be given the chance to manage the club on its return the Southern Combination Premier League.
“I remember watching the club under Pete Edwards in the 90s in those cup nights under floodlights. My aim is to recreate magical nights and days like those.
“It will be hard but I believe there are a lot of local lads who are good enough to represent this great club. With me in charge the local lads, young and experienced, will have a fair chance to play in the first team, reserves and potentially a third team as well as at U18 level.”
Acting club chair Sue Norwood added: “I’m delighted we have appointed Mark. He is a local man with good contacts across the county and has strong beliefs in youth development.
“I’d also like to show my appreciation to each of the applicants who applied for the job and thank them for their interest in our club.”
