Northern League Round Up February 24

THE return of snow decimated the programme. The only game of the 23 scheduled fixtures to go  ahead was on the Cumbrian coast at Whitehaven in the second division.

Haven went down 3-2 against promotion- chasing Jarrow Roofing who strengthened their hopes of a return to the top flight.

Visitors Roofing raced into a three goal first-half lead thanks to goals from Chris Hepple, Liam McBryde and Josh Allan. First Hepple converted a left-wing cross then McBryde beat the offside trap to double the lead before Allan headed home the third on the stroke of half-time.

Kevin Connelly sparked a second-half comeback for Whitehaven, however, when he finished off good work down the left.

Connolly’s second did not come until the 90th minute when he found the net with a free kick but the Roofers hung on.

meanwhile will host Reserves in the semi-final of the Durham Challenge Cup on Wednesday.

Title-chasing host Shildon in the other last four tie at the Brewery Field tomorrow if the pitch is playable.
