Dorset Premier League Round Up (September 1, 2012)

HOLT UNITED moved top of the Dorset Premier League after sharing eight goals with newly promoted Wareham Rangers.

The entertaining eight-goal thriller swung from end to end with the Rangers taking a two-goal lead in the first 30 minutes through Simon Lander and Michael White.

Holt reduced the arrears before the interval through Sam Purdy and Purdy netted again to equalise in the 50th minute.

United moved ahead following a brace from Martin Warren in the 57th and 60th minutes.

But Rangers hit back with a second goal from Simon Lander and took a point with a Jamie Beale goal on 90 minutes that moves them up into the top half of the League.

Cranborne moved out of the bottom two with a first win of the season, 3-1 against their visitors from Tintinhull, but they had to come from a goal down scored by Joe Delahaye on the half hour.

The Cranes hit back before the break to level through Greg O’Mallo and went on to score twice more through Adam Beattie and Greg O’Mallo.

It was Tintinhull’s fourth defeat of the season and they slip into the bottom three.

Reserves made it three games without defeat when they beat their visitors Hamworthy Recreation 3-0.

Luke Winsper netted in the 45th minute, Adam Ansty on the hour and Sanchez Jansz-Baker in the 90th minute.

The win hoists the Terras up to tenth place in the League while Hamworthy, suffering their third defeat, stay in the top six.

Shaftesbury recorded their third win of the season when they defeated their hosts Blandford United by the odd goal in three.

Shaftesbury were two up at the interval and held on for three points despite the Royals pulling one back through Dan Vator.

The win moves Shaftesbury up to seventh place while Blandford slip down to twelfth spot.

League Cup Round One

Parley Sports eased their way into round two of the competition with a 5-2 success against their visitors from Poole Borough.

The Sports started off well and went two up after ten minutes with goals from Matt Newbery and Ben Bosley.

The Hornets hit back with a goal from Aaron Turner but Joshua Pratt restored the Sports two-goal lead in the 21st minute.

Bosley made it 4-1 at the break before Matt Newbery completed his brace to put the game beyond Poole in the 81st minute.

Luke Phillips grabbed a late consolation for Borough three minutes from time.

It took Reserves extra time to beat their hosts Bridport Reserves 4-1 after being 1-1 after 90 minutes.

The Hammers took the lead with a strike from Luke Geddis in the 25th minute but the Bees hit back in the 65th minute with a goal from Jack Scovell.

In extra time it was the Hammers who took control with their extra fitness playing a major part as they netted a further three goals through Joe Turner in the 95th minute and a couple from Tobias Holmes in the 100th and 118th minutes.

Cup Matches involving Magna Dorset League Teams

moved into round two of the Somerset Senior Cup with a 6-0 win against their visitors Chew Magna.

A hat-trick from Dave O’Hare and goals from Reynold Turnock, Hal Clarke and Andrew Norris secured a crushing victory for Town.

Swanage Town & Herston moved into the next round of the when they defeated Andover New 3-0.

Captain Paul Best was on the scoresheet with a brace and Jacob Harrup also bagged a goal to give the Swans their first Vase win for over 20 years.
